Professor Kasper Meisner Nielsen of HKUST and Academic Director of the MS in Global Finance Program delivered a presentation from an unusual angle - the sudden deaths of independent directors - and showed that independent board members are indeed beneficial to shareholder value.
Alongside the presentation Professor Nielsen also discussed the role of independent directors, the best practice and the norm encouraged by international guidelines for corporate governance and recent regulatory initiatives.
The seminar was held in Manila, The Philippines co-organized with The CFA Institute Philippines.
